My last teaching practice

In this opportunity, I had to teach the third time in Intermediate English II, so started the class with a warm-up which was “Mimic game” what I did was to divide the class, girls in one side and boys on the other side, so I asked them to choose a representative for each group, and I showed the flashcards, and they had to mimic the action of each flashcards; they enjoyed because they did the actions and they used their body language, and I think it was a nice activity. After that, I asked them something in order to introduce a review, so I asked them to get in pairs, and discuss about what they remembered of the causatives verbs “make and have” after that, they to share their ideas to the whole class. In order to continue with the class, I asked them again, but now something different, “Have you ever convinced someone to do something for you?” they made their conclusions. But, at this point of the class they did not know about the topic which was “the causative verb get” they started to talk about it, and after that I got to the difficult part which was to explain the grammar, so I brought a big chart with the explanation, I made them read the definition and the use and some examples, and they did it, after finish this they had to share their ideas and I gave them a page with some exercises to complete. I was very surprised because the majority of them got the topic, and they understood perfectly the topic. In order to finish the class, I made them stand up and they had to make groups of six, so in each of the corner of the class were a question, so they had to answer them by using the causative verb get; this activity helped me to measure the level of the interaction and if they understood the topic, so fortunately they did it nice, and I was satisfied with my work on this final class of my process as a teacher.

My second teaching practice

In this opportunity, I had to teach the second time in intermediate II, and I remember it was very early in the morning, so it was a cold morning. I started the class greeting the students, and they were kind of sleepy, so in order to avoid it, I asked the students to stand up and to go out because I developed an activity which was “Jump in Jump out” so, we went out of the classroom, and I consider it was a good idea because it was a good way to wake them up.

After that, I started the class by explaining some vocabulary with a chart, so I consider the chart was good, but I decided to write down on the board the vocabulary, and I made a big mistake because I wrote on the board with a 90 market, so it was kind of embarrassed to do that, I felt terrible, and the mentor told me that I had to fix it after the class, and it was like that. I continued with the class, and I told them that they had to create a conversation, but I skipped one activity, but it was for the mistake that I made with the 90 market. In my point of view, it was not a good activity because they started to talk, but I controlled after some minutes, and I got them to work on that. I played an audio with three conversations, and I gave them some pieces of paper to write down some details, and I consider this activity was good because it was a practice for them for the real listening comprehension test. Just in order to finish the class, I asked to stand up because they had to complete a “find someone who” and this activity they loves it because they were very excited at that time, and it helped me a lot to implement the interaction.
I hope next class would be better than this one.

My first teaching practice

I remember that these were my first 45 minutes of classes that I had to teach, and I was very nervous, eager and happy because it was not easy to stand in front of a big class. Also, I was happy because I had the chance to teach a real class. I started the class with a warm-up activity "Red elbow" My point for this activity was to wake the students up to start the class because I had to teach early in the morning, and I consider that the activity was nice, so I could see that they enjoyed the activity. In order to start the class, I asked the studetns a question "What if you have a dental emergency when you're overseas? I showed some pictures with a description of some dental problems that we can suffer, but the vsual aids were poor, also handwriting was too small, but I think they understood everything despite these issues. After that, I had them create a conversation regarding the vocabulary that I taught them, and they did it, they participated, and they passed in front of the class.
Something that I did not do in this activty was seating arrangement, so I could not monitor preperly. In order to finish the class, I showed them some flashcards with new vocabulary, and they passed the flashcards doing some repetition, so I can say that this activity was useful for them. The mentor told me that I had to avoid speaking in an informal way like: gonna and wanna, so I will take it into consideration.
