In this
opportunity, I had to teach the third time in Intermediate English II, so
started the class with a warm-up which was “Mimic game” what I did was to
divide the class, girls in one side and boys on the other side, so I asked them
to choose a representative for each group, and I showed the flashcards, and
they had to mimic the action of each flashcards; they enjoyed because they did
the actions and they used their body language, and I think it was a nice
activity. After that, I asked them something in order to introduce a review, so
I asked them to get in pairs, and discuss about what they remembered of the
causatives verbs “make and have” after that, they to share their ideas to the
whole class. In order to continue with the class, I asked them again, but now
something different, “Have you ever convinced someone to do something for you?”
they made their conclusions. But, at this point of the class they did not know
about the topic which was “the causative verb get” they started to talk about
it, and after that I got to the difficult part which was to explain the
grammar, so I brought a big chart with the explanation, I made them read the
definition and the use and some examples, and they did it, after finish this
they had to share their ideas and I gave them a page with some exercises to
complete. I was very surprised because the majority of them got the topic, and
they understood perfectly the topic. In order to finish the class, I made them
stand up and they had to make groups of six, so in each of the corner of the
class were a question, so they had to answer them by using the causative verb
get; this activity helped me to measure the level of the interaction and if
they understood the topic, so fortunately they did it nice, and I was satisfied
with my work on this final class of my process as a teacher.

Nice activity with the flashcards! I know that introducing Grammar it could be the hardest part, but i can read you did it well because you asked them to provide examples and that's the best ways students learn. For topics like that, videos would be better for students to understand easily.
ResponderEliminarWell, you did a good job. I consider that you involved all the students in the grammar explanation by using your chart, and then they learnig by practicing. Accordingly, I think that you achieve the objective of your class.
ResponderEliminarRicardo boy! Man, I'm surprised with you. I have to tell you that your teaching persona is amazing, charming, and gentle. I have to congratulate you for all the care and dedication you're putting into every class you develop.
ResponderEliminarSomething that I feel worried about is your compositional skills. Please, check punctuation mark use. I think you're overusing semicolons. Besides, I've noticed many run-on sentences and comma splices. Work on that, pal.
Hey teacher Roni, I'm very grateful and your words make me continue to do what I like the most. It seems like if it was yesterday when you were my Basic English teacher, but look now! I'm just one step away from getting what I want. On the other hand, I know that those are my difficulties, and for me it is very difficult to improve my writing skills, but I am working on it and I thank you for mentioning it. All your words make me work hard to get success. A million thanks!
