Teaching Practice 1 (practicum II)

It was very early in the morning when I arrived to the university and I knew that it was time to do what I love, which is teaching, so arrived to the room (B33) some students were there, and I wrote on the board the agenda, and pasted some pieces of paper with adjectives.  I started my class at 6:45 am greeting my students, and after a brief greet I told them to read what it was on the board which were the adjectives, so I told them to read and analyze them carefully. A part of the adjectives had positive meaning, another one negative, and some of them have both, so I wrote in the board a positive and negative side, and one that said both, the purpose of this activity was that they classify the adjectives by their meaning, and I did it to warm up the class. I gave them a ball, and played some music and Ss’ started passing the ball, when the stopped, the person who got the ball had to pass to the front and choose one adjective to classify it. After that, I asked to take out their books so, they had to complete an exercise from the book which was about classifying the same adjectives used in the previous activity, but it was mixed with another vocabulary given in a previous class. I continued with the class and I asked them to work in trios to the discuss about a person that they admire the most, so the purpose of this activity was to describe the person using the adjectives given, I gave Ss some minutes to discuss about that, so after the finished, they had to come to the front and shared the information using the adjectives.  In order to finish the class, I asked to go the one reading in their books, so they had to read it, I gave them some minutes to read the paragraph. When they finished reading it, they had to discuss some questions that were on the books related to the reading. I loved this class because Ss like to participate and it is nice to see the interaction that they have, also they have lots of motivation to learn and practice the language.

  1. Hey Richard, I read your blog, and it is really interesting that you enjoyed this class, I like how you started your class because in that way students feel more comforable at the very beggining of the class. I hope you enjoy your future practices as this one.
